The Town of Watson Lake works with organizations that support the well-being of our community and enhance the services we provide. This page is dedicated to highlighting those allies whose efforts often overlap with ours in creating a resilient community.

  Liard First Nation

The Liard First Nation is the Indigenous government for the Watson Lake area. Their traditional territory extends beyond the community itself and covers a large region in both southeastern Yukon and northern British Columbia. LFN is part of the Kaska Nation, one of four Kaska First Nations, and their governance and responsibilities reflect connections to land and people that go beyond the boundaries set by federal or territorial governments.

Humane Society Yukon Logo

Humane Society Yukon was founded in 1987 out of dire necessity from reports and incidents of unwanted and neglected animals in the Yukon with no existing facility or organization to help them. The organization originally consisted of nothing more than a fenced-in dog area on rural acreage and a telephone line set up by caring community members. In 1989, Humane Society Yukon was officially registered as a non-profit society in the Yukon.
